Range Safety Assessments

Range Safety Assessments

You may only use the rifle range, if you have your FAC & CGC SSC (Cambridge Gun Club Safe Shooters Card) OR FAC & NRA SSC.

If you do not have either of the above safe shooter’s cards, you will need to do an assessment with us to get a CGC SSC.

These assessments are on organised dates/times. Please see below to find the correct assessment for you and for upcoming dates for these sessions.

These assessments must be pre-booked. Please contact us to book in for one of the below. If none of the listed dates suit you, please get in touch. The information on this page will tell you if it is the safe shooters assesment or range conversion course you require, based on your FAC conditions.

  • Range Conversion Course – Friday 10th January 2025
  • Safe Shooters Assessment – Friday 24th January 2025
  • Range Conversion Course – Saturday 1st February 2025

Safe Shooters Assessments

For those with “Target” on their licence (Not only vermin/pest control)

Safe Shooters Assessments cost £50 per person and will take approx. 1.5 hours. This includes pre-instruction & assessment. Following completion & passing, you will receive a CGC Rifle Range Safe Shooters Card which is valid for 3 years from the date of the assessment.

Please remember to bring your FAC with you and of course, your rifles. We shoot up to .308 on the range and would recommend that you bring your largest calibre rifle, within the .308 limit, to then cover you for the smaller calibres. You will only be covered up to the calibre you do your assessment with.

You must pre-book these assessments. A deposit of £20 is required at the time of booking, with the balance due when you arrive for your assessment. Please note that this session may have other participants in attendance. Please see dates available for this above.

Range Conversion Course

For those who do not have “Target” on their licence and are only listed for pest control/vermin, you require our conversion course instead of the safe shooters assessment.

The Conversion Course costs £90 per person and is a half a day session (usually 12:30pm-4pm) of both theory & practical. We will provide any guns/ammunition/targets required for this session, included within the £90 fee. Please remember to bring your FAC with you.

Upon completion and passing of the assessment, you will receive a CGC Rifle Range Safe Shooters Card, which is valid for 3 years from the date of the assessment.
